The Fiction Collection - Once Upon a Picture

Why Fiction is Important

Fiction is very important. Fiction allows a writer to step out of the box of what’s humanly possible and what’s not. The writer is given a boundless world to create and for the reader to explore when fiction is established. It allows for a writer to create tales and wild stories through a character’s own eyes. Fiction permits a reader to step in the shoes of a character a writer chooses to depict.  It forms and promotes creative and emotional intelligence. Images designed by the writer don’t have to be ground by what is known to be realistic on Earth but can portray completely different universes to allow a reader to let their mind imagine the unimaginable so that they are satisfied. Fiction can act as an escape for many that don’t want to be stuck in their reality. The fiction about heroes can act as inspiration for readers to stay and be motivated in their everyday lives. Even when a story has nothing plot-wise similar to your real-life readers can find and fit the themes of fiction to what they are experiencing and act as compasses guiding people to make hard decisions.

Why Fiction

Fiction is important as it helps us understand other ‌people’s perspectives. The word fiction indicates to the reader that the written content is original and unique to the author’s imagination.

The purpose of fiction is to entertain and captivate readers using  the four elements of the story,  plotLinks to an external site., characters, settingLinks to an external site., and themeLinks to an external site.

Fiction, however, may be based on a true story or situation.

Fiction allows ample room for writers to be more creative by adding suspense and drama to cause readers to accept the story as it is invented and presented by the author.

Authors use fiction to amuse, shock or inspire their readers to think outside the box.  Fiction tells a story that didn’t happen, couldn’t happen, or happened differently so that their readers can experience an alternate take on the story without actually living it.

Fiction takes readers on an adventure to places they may have never been or thought about and inserts them into lives of people they will never meet yet experience their innermost thoughts, beliefs, cultures, and traditions.
